seoul, 10 degrees cooler than average. moving into the americas, then, after days of stormy weather we're seeing drier conditions across the northwest. although we're seeing some light showers lingering in british columbia. parts of california and snow showers for the cascades and the northern rockies, not too severe. heavy rain, snow and strong winds battering central canada. that's moving toward the east. quebec will see blizzard-like conditions from your thursday. light showers for the southeast coast. other than that, dry and hot for this time of year to the south. 24 in houston. 21 in oklahoma city. getting back to normal across the eastern seaboard. finally, let's go over to the european continent. lots of things are going on. frigid air is blanketing the north, producing snow showers for parts of the british isles, southern scandinavian peninsula. rain is intensifying over the iberian peninsula. storms affecting the central and east mediterranean because we have frigid air to the north colliding with warmer air from africa. severe weather will continue into your friday. tempe

americas. high pressure is dominating the east. that's not going to be lasting long. we have this low continuing to spin around the four corners region. bringing snowfall into new mexico. ahead of it, see all the lines moving from the south to the north? that's indicating an influx of warm air. really going to be pumping lots of warm air along the east. in chicago, you're seeing about a 10-degree spike while with that that's going to interact with this system, bring some heavy rainfall. a messy scenario across the great lakes and moving into new england on your saturday and sunday. but here's where the temperatures will be looking like on your friday. chicago, the high of 9. once again, that's going to be going up to 18 degrees here going into your saturday. similar situation down in oklahoma city. getting up there into the low 20s. enjoy the warmup. but some rainfall is going to be accompanying here throughout your weekend. now into europe, we have a low pressure area pushing in across the british aisles into the iberian peninsula. as that continues to track to the east, gusty winds

that philippines. we'll keep a very close eye on this for you. here across the americas, for your christmas day severe outbreak is still in store across the gulf coast. this could be a deadly one due to the tornadic activities. we already have 14 reports of tornadoes in the past 24 hours, and also hail have been reported too. this is going to be shifting toward the southeastern areas and toward the northeast. this is your boxing day outlook. toward the north, heavy snow will be piling up. and toward the west here another pacific system will be reaching. so the coastal heavy rain. and the sierras possibly will look at a total of 50 centimeters of additional snowfall. temperaturewise we're looking at los angeles 14 degrees, houston down to 8 from 25 yesterday. please do bundle up. oklahoma city at minus 4 degrees. just -- that's well below your average. let's now head toward the european continent. and talk about the very windy conditions in northeastern germany. we have been seeing wet and unstable conditions there. the temperatures are very cold, too. berlin at 9 degrees. but take

to the americas, because moisture inflow across northern california, plus these high winds creating a very messy situation. these high winds could be knocking down tree branches, knocking out power to many residents across this area, but not just that. the flashflooding potential. all this moisture pushing onshore is going to be bringing about 200 to 300 millimeters throughout the weekend. so there in northern california you're going to be seeing that very high risk. that is the very high elevations in the rockies, snowfall up to about 30, even 60 centimeters of snow in some of these higher areas. if you have plans on traveling across the area, any flights, do they can in on them ahead of time because this is going to be messy and potentially dangerous. talking about the snow, look at spain. cold air spilling across the north. in spain, that cold air mixed with a little bit of precipitation is ending up looking like this. i want to show you a video actually coming out of this area where the snowfall has been coming down and winter has reached spain as temperatures continue to plunge

in manil. to the americas we're watching a system pull off the east coast. the storm system did bring rough weather to the southeast. actually a tornado was reported in georgia. that's dissipating and pushing off to the east. expecting rain and a mix of freezing rain into the new england states as this continues to push off there. after that we have a break into the central plains around the ohio river valley. farther towards the west, you see this cloud cover here? that is the next series of storm systems. this has been hitting the entire rockies. in utah, 153 kilometer per hour winds were reported. not just that, we're also seeing heavy snowfall across much of this area and expect more in the next 24 hours in british columbia, over 20 centimeters can be expected here. even down towards south around wyoming, colorado, even over towards utah. some isolated areas could be seeing 60 centimeters of snowfall. we'll want to watch this throughout the remainder of the week. the same storm system as it spins up and off to the east, it will be bringing rough weather and blizzard conditions aro

largely dry. finally, let's go over to the americas, then. it's going to be a very busy travel week because a christmas holiday is coming up next week. unfortunately, many drivers may run into hazardous conditions due to heavy snow. we have a winter storm affecting the four corners region with snow as well as howling winds. the system will quickly intensify and head toward the northeast. these conditions are likely across parts of kangs cancel and colorado, and snow will also spread into the upper midwestern states from your wednesday night. as much as 50 centimeters of sn is likely in wisconsin. and to the south severe thunderstorms will be wrapped around the central and southern mississippi river valley. even tornadoes are not out of the question. staying dry in western texas, but that is raising the risk of wildfires. and up toward the northeast snow showers are ongoing in southern quebec, the atlantic canada as well as new england states. temperatures are looking like this, and i will leave you now with your extended forecast. ♪ ♪ >>> that's all for this edition of "newsline

morning temperature-wise. in tokyo we're looking at 12 degrees. over towards the americas still things are very messy across much of the southwest. this is due to this winter storm system, and it is going to be a very heavy snowmaker. that will be moving into the four corners. welcoming rain will perhaps be in the phoenix region, but the mountainside will perhaps see about 30 centimeters of snowfall in nevada and new mexico. colorado, you may see more than that, and southern california you'll still see those rain but higher elevations will possibly pack up 5 centimeters of snowfall. across much of the southeast, things are looking very clear and the temperatures are rising here in chicago. that's well above your average. in fact, people in chicago actually broke the record for the longest stretch with no measurable snowfall. you haven't seen snow since rch 4 lt year, so 283 days of no snow. we're wondering when that snow will start there, but freezing rain has impacted paris. it was a slippery day for us out there. still a slippery thing. look at this video. freezing rain creates icy r

increase the snow melt and avalanche risk in northern japan. let's take a look at the americas, we have that very significant comma cloud. that is continuing to push off toward the northeast. seeing severe weather across the southeast into the carolinas, even off toward virginia. already reports of tornadic activity coming out of the storm system. and now looks like that threat still is going to linger. farther towards the north, you will see the freezing rain. in new york, gusts up to 50 kilometers per hour. far away from the ocean, that's where you will see the freezing rain risk. power lines could be falling down once you get accumulation on top of them. over the past several days, snow extending toward the west. if you're curious on who actually had a white christmas out here, this is the snow depth in the united states and canada. you can see much of northern half of the u.s. toward canada, you have snow on the ground. actually, into some of the higher elevations in the rockies, 50 to 100 millimeters, isolated areas will see more than that. really widespread snowfall has been

very hot temperatures. 34 in bangkok. 32 in manila. as we head on into the americas, it's going to be another wet day for you along the west coast from b.c. down through northern california. you've hood had a bit of a break. another round of rain coming in. and some very strong winds here, too. not much changed since last week. another low moving here through eastern canada. that will bring maybe 30 centimeters of snow to northern ontario as well as quebec. blowing and drifting snow here, too, so, again, difficult driving conditions. along the cold front, it's not going to be too severe. you'll see a few thunderstorms in that rain, but certainly temperatures will be falling as the front passes. that said, though, we're seeing some unseasonably warm temperatures across the east at the moment. chicago, 19 degrees. 24 in oklahoma city. 19 for you in d.c. with 16 in new york city. all right. let's go now to europe. a very messy picture here. the western locations are starting to see a low and frontal system moving through. that's going to be producing plenty of precipitation. and a lot

. as we take a look over towards the americas, we have been watching this storm system push across the eastern u.s., now off towards new england. still have blizzard warnings in effect into maine extending out there towards the west and also dealing with that lake-effect snow, that cold air wrapping around this low-pressure system into ontario, lake ontario here, over towards lake erie, the southern portions is where you've been seeing very heavy snowfall. not to mention gusty winds continuing to occur all across this region. so blizzard conditions, whiteouts on the roads. if you do not have to drive, i'd recommend staying inside and riding this one out because that's going to be some very dangerous traveling conditions, not to mention airport delays and cancellations across much of this region. behind it conditions really clearing out here. chicago just above the freezing mark for your high on your thursday but it is expected to be sunny skies. same over there into denver, minus 3 for your high. down towards the south, houston, you're starting to warm up from yesterday's high righ

in seoul and bejing, minus 17 in ul lambator. 20 in hong kong. to the americas, you are just getting a smashing of snow over the northern rockies, not too much going on through central and northern portions of the continent. a frontal system moves further toward the atlantic. let's show you what happened when the front moved through. video of the wisconsin. as it moved across the dakotas and great lakes region, plows out in full force in wisconsin. traffic obviously crawling there due to slick roads, but skiers and snowboarders took to the slopes for the first time this year after the winter storm dumped plenty of fresh powder. not everyone was enjoying the snow, however, and there were more than 20 car crashes reported across minnesota. as a result of the early season storm. most of them stuck in ditches or in snow banks. now, after that cold front passes, temperatures are really going to be falling across much of the east. let's show you some of the figures. in chicago, you are down to 2 degrees for your high. 4 degrees in oklahoma city. 11 in houston. tuesday, you will see 1 degre

americas. central portions are looking calm and clear. a storm from the pacific, dropping down from b.c. to central california. chilly showers to post coastal areas. and we'll be seeing some snow, a few inches on the sierra nevadas and moving inland as well. strongest gusts bringing temperatures down in portions of southern california in the next couple of days. out toward the east, we've been watching a stubborn system move away out over the atlantic, but what will be left over is heavy showers in the eastern gulf states as well as in the florida peninsula and you can see some severe thunderstorms erupting there too. here are temperatures. a big drop out in the northeast. new york city, 9 degrees today. 9 in d.c. a drop of 10 degrees between monday and tuesday. further up toward the north. that's your high temperature. winnipeg, minus 20. high temperature, even down to houston, 13 for the high. but overnight lows will be around the freezing point. as for europe, not too much to worry about for western and central locations. potent low bringing blizzard like conditions. it's fwog to

freezing mark in the mid-part of the week. as we look over towards the americas, we continue to watch a series of storm systems here into the west. that has been bringing already some gusty winds actually in utah here. you saw 153-kilometer-per-hour winds day. it will push off in the next 24 hours and bring in gusty winds and this heaviy snowfall. 20 centimeters anywhere in the black. some isolated areas into higher elevations could keep upwards of 60 centimeters of snowfall. not just here but a separate storm system pushing onshore in british columbia. that will bring heavy snowfall for you. this one not just affecting this area. as we look into the next several days, it is going to be cruising out over the central plains bringing with it some blizzard-like conditions and winds gusting around 50 to 60 kilometers per hour reducing visibility with the blowing snow mixed in there. eventually off towards the great lakes into the northeast. anybody who has travel plans across any major cities in this region going slew thursday and friday and even into the weekend. you're going to wa

december, 10 for your high on your friday. let's take a look over towards the americas where a frontal area is pushing across the western great lakes here, continuing to push towards the east. this is bringing some snowfall for you, as well, southern ontario, a mix of rain and snow. some freezing rain is going to be on tap for you as this continues to push off to the east. and south of the freezing line, though, you're seeing some rain showers moving across portions of the ohio river valley and eventually off towards the east. but as we look into the gulf coast, things remain nice for you, houston with a high of 34, oklahoma city, high tler, and 19 in los angeles with a high of 20. now, as we take a look over towards europe, several low-pressure systems continue to move in across the west here. this is bringing some snow showers for the most part. some rain is going to be seen across the southern portions of the uk, though. what this is going to be bringing is the risk of flooding. last week you saw very significant flooding here, and the ground is already stamp rated so you do not nee

thunderstorms as well, especially in evening hours as well. as we take a look into the americas, we have a low-pressure area starting to pull off toward the northeast. this is going to be creating all sorts of messy travel weather conditions throughout the next several days across the next central plains to the western great lakes. this low, see the lines really close together just off toward the north? it's indicating some 80 kilometer per hour winds, kicking up heavy snowfall, adding up to 30 centimeters, the storm continues to march toward the east and then toward the south, you have warm air and moisture inflow coming in. erupting the rick of severe weather. fast-moving storms from the west toward the east here. throughout your day on your wednesday evening, even into thursday as well. and coming by very gusty winds and heavy rainfall. the good news, doesn't look like the storms will be severe enough for tornadoes. take a look at this area. a little bit out of place. indicating dry weather. over here, moisture out of the gulf of mexico. here, out of the desert. that's creating fire wea

the midpart of the week. as we look over towards americas, severe weather has erupted across oklahoma and moving over to the lower mississippi river valley. we have this cold front attached to it. all this area actually across louisiana has been seeing tornado warnings. frequent lightning, even damaging hail coming out of this. then towards the north we have heavy snowfall likely across the central plains and into the great lakes regions. you're under a winter storm warnings at this time. a big problem across this area on christmas day, you have fewer snowplows on the road. it's going to create dangerous travel conditions. as the snow pulls across the northeast, new york, heavy rainfall, gusty winds, into the appalachians and even into new york state we'll see the risk of freezing rain. widespread power outages very well could be possibly on wednesday going into thursday. in the pacific northwest, storm activity moving in there. heavy snowfall into higher elevations, 30 centimeters, but the temperatures are cooling off in theidwest. winnipeg minus 22, chicago only 1 for your high. hou
